Kids Create Art program offered at Sequim Library

SEQUIM — Kids Create Art is offered the third Saturday of every month October through December at the Sequim Library.

Led by local artists, the Kids Create Art program series at the library at 630 N. Sequim Ave., which is recommended for ages 7-12, creates “fun, hands-on opportunities for children to explore various artistic media,” library representatives said.

Classes are from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Registration is required.

To register, visit the Sequim Library events calendar at www.nols.org, call the library at 360-683-1161 or email to youth@nols.org.

All materials are provided.

The class schedule is:

• Saturday — “Marine Debris Art” with Sequim artist Eva Kozun.

Participants will create an underwater seascape collage with the realistic addition of plastics and trash. Discussion introduces students to the collage process in art and the problems of global marine debris.

• Nov. 16 — “Beaded Driftwood Mobiles” with Chimacum artist Shayann Hoffer.

In this workshop, students will create beaded mobiles with driftwood and other found objects.

• Dec. 21 — “The Return of Light: Solstice Candles” with Sequim artist Carrie Rodlend.

The theme for this workshop will focus on exploring concentric and parallel lines, form and structure, design and spatial relationships, while working with oil pastel and water color resist.

Get more information about this and other programs for youth by calling the Sequim Library at 360-683-1161, emailing youth@nols.org or visiting www.nols.org.

The program is supported by the Friends of Sequim Library.
