Juan de Fuca Foundation seeks artwork from youth

PORT ANGELES — The Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts is seeking artwork for a community youth gallery during the 30th edition of the festival May 26-28.

Young artists between 11 and 25 years old are asked to enter art for the show by May 15.

“We celebrate the power and potential that come from young minds, perspectives, ideas and experiences,” the foundation said in a press release.

”We believe that young voices and ingenuity are vital to a healthy community, culture, and prosperous future. Show us what power and potential is for you.”

The gallery will be presented in partnership with FUMC Social Norm’s at the Vern Burton Community Center atrium, 308 E. Fourth St., during the festival.

Port Angeles, WA. Social Norm’s and JFFA are calling for all youths to submit their art for the community youth gallery which is going to be on exhibit for the JFFA festival. Details for submitting artwork are as follows: target age range 11-25.

Artwork must be able to hang on a wall. Photography, fiber art and poetry are encouraged alongside traditional 2D mediums. Submission must be accompanied by name, age, medium, contact information, title of work (if applicable), requested price for purchase (if applicable).

Artwork can be dropped off at several locations in Port Angeles or online.

Drop off locations are:

• Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., between 8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 360-452-7602.

• Stevens Middle School, 1139 W. 14th St., between 8:35 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 360-452-5590.

• Lincoln High School, 924 W. Ninth St., between 8:30 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 360-452-9502.

• First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The phone number is 360-452-8971.
