PORT TOWNSEND — Artists KarenLee Eaton and Michael Kenney will discuss their work at Gallery 9 during the Port Townsend Gallery Walk on Saturday.
The events will be the gallery, 1012 Water St., from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Gallery 9 is presenting “Earth, Sky, Darkness and Light” with photography by Eaton and artisan jewelry by Kenney.
Port Townsend native Eaton has been taking photos since she came across her father’s old 35mm Pentax SLR when she was 7, according to show organizers.
While she is drawn to land and seascape photography, she has ventured into producing celestial, abstract light and dark-time images.
Vashon Island artist Kenney has been creating unique jewelry pieces professionally since 1976. His passion lies in the discovery and cutting of unusual natural stones into unique gems, then creating precious metal settings for the gems.
Also presenting area artists during Saturday’s Gallery Walk are:
• Port Townsend Gallery, 715 Water St., will exhibit the work of five jewelers.
Andrea Guarino-Slemmons will feature jewelry focusing on ravens, mountains and trees of the Pacific Northwest along with hand-forged bracelets and earrings.
Shirley Moss, “The Chainmaker,” specializes in handmade chains in silver, gold, copper or in a marriage of metals.
Jeweler Kristen Wade will have a collection of silver jewelry focusing on the juxtaposition of texture and shape, along with a line of botanical prints jewelry that uses live plants.
Martha Collins weaves wood, creating personal and one-of-a-kind works of art with natural colors and grains of exotic woods and dyed maple veneer.
Addy Thornton blends metal, yarn, gems, knitting, pearling and crocheting into intricate 3D designs.
All of the jewelers will be available during Gallery Walk from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Port Townsend School of the Arts Experience, 236 Taylor St., will feature gift certificates, small art works, prints, books, cards and other merchandise by faculty artists from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
In addition, Port Townsend School of the Arts will display and sell the newly released monograph of Karen Hackenberg’s post-pop paintings.
PTSA Art Experience will have faculty work on display with small originals by Darsie Beck, Mike Biskup, Maria Coryell-Martin, Nonie Gaines, Marcy Gordon, Meg Kaczyk, Melissa Klein, Glo Lamson, Shirley Mercer, Rick Meyers, Linda Okazaki, Mary O’Shaughnessy, Julie Read, Kerry Tremain, Dana Weir, Lindsey Weyland, Diane Wheatley and Rebecca Wild.
Visitors can view and purchase Hackenberg’s limited edition book, and, Dec. 7, Hackenberg will be on hand to talk about the book and her work, which will be available for book signing.
• Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., will host a reception during Gallery Walk from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for “Small Expressions 17 — a Juried Exhibit of Extraordinary Smaller Works of Art” and the featured artist of the month, Joe Englander.
On display will be pieces in Northwind Arts Center’s 17th annual presentation of extraordinary smaller works.
Juror Richard La Londe will talk on “Art and Artifact: My Perception as Juror” at 1 p.m. Sunday.
La Londe is a Whidbey Island artist who has been working with glass since 1974.
Englander, the featured artist of the month, has been photographing, publishing and exhibiting for more than 40 years.
Working in all formats from 35 mm to 8-by-10 since 1980, he has produced color and black-and-white photography for both commercial and artistic projects.
The show opened Thursday and will run through Dec. 30.
Andrea Guarino-Slemmons has been making beads and designing jewelry for 30 years. Her jewelry will be displayed at Port Townsend Gallery this weekend.
