COYLE — Jeremiah Johnson, a Blues Music Award nominee, will bring his musical stew of Mississippi blues, rock and country to an outdoor show at Concerts in the Woods at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Johnson will perform at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, Coyle. Admission is by donation; suggested donation is $20.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Johnson is known for writing emotionally charged songs with lyrics “driven by the common man’s passion for life and the struggles he confronts along the way,” organizers said.
After signing a record deal with Ruf Records in March 2018, Johnson released four albums: Hi-Fi Drive By, Unemployed Highly Annoyed and Heavens to Betsy in 2020, and Straitjacket in 2018.
Johnson’s last six releases have all been in the top eight of the Billboard Blues Album Charts, organizers said.
In 2022, Johnson’s “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” was nominated for Best Blues Rock Album of the Year at the annual Blues Music Awards.
Since signing with Ruf Records, Johnson has toured the U.S., performed nearly 200 European shows, and was a featured artist in the 2020 Ruf’s Blues Caravan.
In 2023, Johnson has done tours in the Northeast, South Central, Southeastern, Midwestern, Pacific Northwest and Western United States.
