Jefferson County Toastmasters offer ghost stories

PORT TOWNSEND — Spirits are abroad, the seasons are in transition, and it’s the perfect time to take a break from the workaday world and listen to some Halloween-themed stories, according to the Jefferson County Toastmasters.

The club invites the public to hear ghost stories and a special poem and partake of refreshments at the free Halloween event from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 1120 Walker St., Port Townsend (near Blaine Street).

The meeting will feature two prepared speeches by club members, accompanied by short, impromptu speeches with a holiday theme.

Guests are welcome to participate in these Table Topics and to offer feedback on the content and quality of prepared speeches, organizers said.

Refreshments will be served, and guests are welcome to bring their own lunches.

Jefferson County Toastmasters provides a setting for people of diverse backgrounds to practice their speaking skills and understand how those skills can enhance their lives. The public is welcome to meetings, which now are on a special holiday schedule.
