Jefferson County museum to reopen Saturday

Safety measures are in place

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson Museum of Art & History is reopening Saturday.

The Jefferson County Historical Society is reopening the museum at 540 Water St. after six months of closure due to COVID-19 precautions.

Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends throughout the fall.

Anne Hirondelle’s retrospective exhibition “Not Done Yet” has been extended through November.

To maintain safety for visitors, volunteers and staff, historical society officials have set up certain measures.

• Face masks are required for all visitors over the age of 2. Any who lack a mask can find one at the museum.

• Touch-free transactions are encouraged with credit and debit, limiting cash transactions where possible.

• A limited number of visitors will be admitted to allow for generous spacing.

• A one-way path has been created through the museum, with visitors guided by arrows on the floor.

• Restrooms and common areas are cleaned and sanitized frequently.

• Hand washing sink and sanitizing stations have been added around the museum.

The Research Center, Rothschild House and Commanding Officer’s Quarters remain closed to the public.

The Gateway Visitor Center will continue to welcome visitors.
