Jefferson County Farm Tour goes virtual this weekend

22 farms planning to participate

PORT TOWNSEND — The 18th annual Jefferson County Farm Tour is going virtual this weekend with 22 participating farms sharing photos, video tours and presentations.

This year’s free Virtual Farm Tour is featuring more farms than in years past in part due to the event being virtual, organizers said. Several participating farms are not able to host visitors on their farms but are sharing their stories with the community.

On GetOnTheFarm.org, visitors will find extended profiles, professional photos and videos from local farms.

On the virtual tour are Blue Wheelbarrow Farm, Center Valley Animal Rescue, Chimacum Valley Dairy, Colinwood Farm, Compass Rose Farms, Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Finnriver Home Farm;

Heartwood Nursery, Hopscotch Farm + Cannery, Jacobs Fleece Farm, Kodama Farm & Food Forest, One Straw Ranch, Port Townsend Vineyards, Quimper Grange Foodbank Garden, RainCoast Farms, Sailor Vineyard, Shy Acre Farm, SpringRain Farm & Orchard, Sunfield Land for Learning, Sweet Seed Flower Farm, White Lotus Farm and Wilderbee Farm.

A schedule of six live online presentations are planned on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

• 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. — Kodama Farm: Cultivating an Indoor Tropical Food Forest.

• Noon to 1 p.m. — Center Valley Animal Rescue: Who We Are & What We Do.

• 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Finnriver Farm & Cidery: Take an Orchard Tour with Finnriver’s Orchard Manager.

Sunday

The Annual Jefferson County Farm Tour was started by the WSU Jefferson County Extension in 2003 as a harvest festival and celebration of local food and farming.

In 2019, WSU formed a partnership with The Production Alliance, a nonprofit, to manage the tour.
