Jefferson County Fair kicks off today

Graden Kubas, 16, of Sequim scratches the back of his Hereford steer, Hammer, that he plans to exhibit in the Fitting and Showing category of the Jefferson County Fair on Saturday.

Kubas, a member of FFA, raised the steer from about 1 week old to its present age of 16 months. It weighs about 1,000 to 1,300 pounds. The Jefferson County Fair begins today and runs through Sunday at 4907 Landes St. in Port Townsend. For tickets and information, see jeffcofairgrounds.com.
