Jazz concert
PORT TOWNSEND — Scott Cossu will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The concert will be at Rainshadow Recording, Building 315 at Fort Worden State Park.
Cossu, a jazz pianist and flutist, will be joined by Holly Reeves, the principal cellist of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra.

First Friday lecture
PORT TOWNSEND — Heidi Yantz will present “STEM and Women who Persevered” from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Yantz’s lecture is in the Maritime Meeting Room at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St.
The presentation is part of the First Friday Lecture Series sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Admission is $10 per person, season passes are available for $80 per person, $65 per person for society members.

PORT TOWNSEND — Loren Niemi will present “Bad Brothers: Religion and Politics” at 7 p.m. Friday.
The event is part of the First Friday StoryNight series held at the Port Townsend Friends Meeting, 1841 Sheridan St.
Niemi will recount how he went into a religious order as a Catholic and came out a Buddhist with an FBI file.
He will be followed by an open mic segment, five-minute limit for each.

The dance will be at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St.
Admission is free, donations will be accepted.
Dance styles may include swing, cha-cha, waltz, foxtrot and salsa at the whim of the iPod. No partner is required.

The competition will be at the 101 Brewery at Twana Roadhouse, 294793 U.S. Highway 101.
This month’s featured titles are the book “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah and the 2006 film “Akeelah and the Bee.”
An extra point will be awarded to each team that presents members’ library cards.
Attendees must be 21 years or older.
