Jazz, Running Start information, estate planning set on Peninsula

Jazz at the PUB

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Jazz Ensemble will perform “Jazz at the PUB” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The free concert will be in the Pirates Union Building at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The program will include instrumental works by Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, John Lewis, Chuck Mangione, Booker T and the M.G.s and two new pieces by the ensemble’s director, David P. Jones.

The ensemble will be joined by vocalist Robbin Eaves for renditions of “That’s All,” “I Love Being Here with You” and “I’ll Be Around.”

Teen lounge

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host a teen lounge from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The lounge is open for young adults from 11 through 19 at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

The free program runs Tuesdays through June 9 except for Feb. 25.

‘Earth to Kenzie’

PORT ANGELES — The touring company of the Seattle Opera will present “Earth to Kenzie” at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The one-act opera will be performed at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

The opera, geared toward children in kindergarten through sixth grade, features music by Frances Pollock and a libretto by Jessica Murphy Moo.

A libretto, Italian for “little book,” contains all the words and stage directions for an operatic production.

Senior dance

PORT ANGELES — Cat’s Meow will perform for a swing dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The dance will be in the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

Refreshments are served from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person; first-time attendees are admitted free.

Running start

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will host a Running Start information night at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

An information session and a panel discussion are planned in the college’s Little Theater on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 Laurisden Blvd.

Running Start is a program that allows high school juniors and seniors to earn tuition-free college credit.

An optional tour of the campus is set for 6:30 p.m.

‘Peter Pan’

PORT ANGELES — The production of “Peter Pan and Wendy” will continue with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The play will be performed at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The production runs through March 8.

Tickets for the midweek performance are $8 at the door.

Estate planning

SEQUIM — Kitsap County attorney Richard Tizzano will present “Age Your Way” from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

The free estate and life care planning seminar will be conducted in the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Tizzano will discuss the roles of Medicare, Medicaid and long-term care insurance; maintaining quality of life; aging in place and retirement communities; protecting wealth from taxes and uncovered medical costs; and estate planning and supplemental needs trusts planning.

CHIMACUM

Fruit club meets

CHIMACUM — The North Olympic Fruit Club will hear a presentation on grafting fruit trees at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The program, “Graft Your Own Fruit Tree,” will be presented at the club’s meeting at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be served.

PORT HADLOCK

Tech Tuesday

PORT HADLOCK — Library staff will present “iPad Basics 1” from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The class is part of the Tech Tuesday series at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.

Attendees will learn the basics of using an iPad including navigation, keeping it updated, and managing device settings.

Tech staff will present “iPad Basics 2” on Tuesday, March 10.

Tech staff will be available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. after the class for drop-in tech assistance with phones, tablets or other devices.
