Jazz musicians to perform in Coyle on Saturday

COYLE — Ted Brancato will perform at the Concerts in the Woods series for the second time at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The concert will take place at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Admission is by donation. Complimentary cookies and coffee are served at intermission to guests.

This time around Brancato will be joined by two of Seattle’s premier jazz musicians – Chuck Deardorf on bass and Mark Ivester on drums — the same musicians Brancato chose to accompany him when he toured the Pacific Northwest in 2013 to promote his debut album “The Next Step.”

“This will surely be a show to please the mellow jazz enthusiasts,” said concert series organizer Norm Johnson.

Brancato is calling this performance “Past, Present, Future” because he’ll be playing and singing songs from the Great American Songbook, original compositions from his first album released in 2013, songs from his second album titled “Bicoastal” released in 2017, and songs from his future album.

Brancto built his 40-year career in the New York City area after learning his trade in his hometown of Seattle.

He has toured the world with vocalist Jeanie Bryson, serving as her musical director for 15 years and recording three albums in the process.

This fall he will fly to Switzerland to play in Berne with his long-time friend Dee Daniels, whom he toured to Africa with and recorded with at his home recording studio.

The Laurel B. Johnson Community Center is a wood and glass structure with wonderful acoustics, Johnson said. The room has seating for more than 65 people.
