FORKS — The Forever Twilight Festival in Forks begins Thursday and will continue through Sunday, with some pre-festival events scheduled on Tuesday and today.

Entry to the festival — which offers activities all over town — is free. Most activities — including movies, get-togethers, shopping bazaars, hikes/walks, beach visits to La Push and other activities — also are offered for free. Most of the ticketed events are sold out.

The annual celebration highlights the town in which author Stephenie Meyer set her four novels released 2005-2008 about a romance between 17-year-old Isabella Swan, a mortal, and 104-year-old vampire Edward Cullen — all of which spawned five movies.

The Forever Twilight festival in Forks always is scheduled to be on the weekend closest to Bella Swan’s fictional birthday of Sept. 13. This year, her birthday will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today with a birthday cake at the Forks Outfitters patio at 950 S. Forks Ave., a free event.

Although Forks was never used for filming the movies, places in town recall events pictured in them.

The Forever Twilight in Forks Collection at the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave., displays props and costumes from Twilight-themed movies. It is open from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Cullen and Swan houses, which represent the structures described in the books, and other points of interest are offered for fans.

During the Forever Twilight in Forks Festival, fans can hang out with Twilight Saga actors and get to know the characters.

Twilight Saga special guests are Ashley Greene, who portrayed Alice Cullen; Rachelle Lefevre, Victoria Sutherland; and Erik Odom, who portrayed Peter in “Breaking Dawn Part 2.”

In addition, Forever Twilight in Forks cast members portray the Cullen Coven, Jacob Black, the Volturi and others featured in the story with themed parties, activities at Forks High School — including a panel discussion with the Saga actors, movie showings and tours.

Authors will offer signed books at the festival as well.
