Irrigation Festival names its Grand Parade winners

SEQUIM — Sequim Irrigation Festival organizers announced the winners of the Grand Parade for the 129th year of the event.

The Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival took home Grand Sweepstakes while the Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild took home the President’s Award.

The Daffodil Festival won the Governor’s Award, Clallam County Fair the Mayor’s Award and the McCleary Bear Festival the Best Patriotic Award.

Judges awarded special prizes to the USS Bonefish (first place), Sequim High School Robotics Club (second) and third to Drama the horse and Sheri Dingmon.

For best Community Drill Team, Olympic View Middle School Drill Team placed first and White Crane Martial Arts second.

In the middle/junior high band contest, Olympic View Middle School Band placed first and the Hoquiam Middle School Cub Marching Band was second.

Organizers said May 11 that Sequim’s bands do not qualify as hosts of the parade.
