Inaugural Food and Flowers Show opens today

PORT HADLOCK — The Gallery at Old Alcohol Plant will celebrate its inaugural Food and Flowers Show with an opening reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today.

The show at the gallery in the Old Alcohol Plant Hotel and Restaurant at 310 Hadlock Bay Road will be on display through May 25.

Curated by Gary Nisbet, it highlights the use of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from the hotel’s kitchen garden.

The show features local artists Linda Okazaki, Ginny Banks, Loran Scruggs, Peter Juvonen and Virginia King along with Seattle painter Hiba Jameel.

In addition to the more established artists, works by two Old Alcohol Plant staffers also will be displayed.

Sous chef Elijah Berry will show oil paintings while gardener Kira Mardikes will show watercolors and pen and ink drawings.

When the show closes on May 25, it will be capped with an Artist Garden Dinner Party hosted by executive chef Troy Murrell.
