Improv Without a Net Troupe to perform Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Improv Without A Net Troupe will perform at Studio Bob on Saturday.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St.

Tickets are $10 for those 13 and older. To purchase tickets, see https://checkout.square.site/buy/VMDG D4S2RZFOPSAA53DTO5 ZM, at www.studiobob.art and at the door.

Improv Without A Net Troupe (IWANT) is composed of local actors and performers who have been practicing the art of Improv together for several years, organizers said.

Starting during the pandemic with Olympic Theatre Arts support as LOLOlympics. Folks met for Zoom rehearsals, and IWANT solidified with the support of Bob Stokes from Studio Bob.

“Having rehearsal and performance space for the troupe has allowed us to form the trust and connections an improv troupe needs to be entertaining to watch,” said Sarah Tucker, one of the troupe organizers.

“It is a beautiful space with a great little stage. The walls are filled with the 6th annual Fiber Arts Exhibition. It’s going to be a great show,” she added.

Other troupe members are Mark Valentine, Kailey Droz, Lara Starcevich, Cat White, Tom Shindler and Shaina Lent.

Valentine, who also teaches at Port Angeles School District and Peninsula College, has been active in theater on Olympic Peninsula stages for over two decades.

He believes the three rules for improv are spiritual guidelines for everyday living: Support your scene partner, Always say, *yes, and–”, and “there are no mistakes, only opportunities.”

Droz said she loves being part of the troupe. In her spare time, she can be found riding her bike, hiking in the Olympic National Park or spending time with friends and loved ones.

Starcevich teaches speech and drama at Peninsula College and does her own standup-improv solo show called ‘The Finger McFinger show.”

White started out doing improv at anime conventions and with local theater people whenever possible.

Shindler started doing improv to improve his communication skills. When not doing improv, you can find him on the trails in the wilderness, on the dance floor or playing music. His day job is still making maps.

Lent is a big fan of fresh air, quoting movies and almost any cat, she said. She has favorite aunt vibes and falls often and hard for flaky pastries.

Tucker helps to run Studio Bob in Port Angeles and is part of the Performing Arts team at The Field Arts & Event Hall.
