PORT TOWNSEND — Maureen “Mo” Walrath, a weaver and writer, will give a lecture Tuesday titled “How I Hold You, How I Would Have Held You.”

In this one-hour talk, Walrath will discuss her practice as a maker of willow caskets, cradles and baskets, several of which are on display at Grover Gallery, 236 Taylor St.

Walrath will give her presentation in the gallery at 7 p.m., and set aside time for questions and discussion until 8:30 p.m. Her talk also will explore ritual craft, community-held burial and art as a way of connecting with ancestors.

Walrath’s “soul boats,” willow caskets, are part of the Grover Gallery exhibition titled “The Fiber of Our Being.”

Two other fiber artists, quilter Andrea Alonge and weaver Tininha Silva, also have their creations in the show.

For more information and to reserve a seat at Tuesday’s lecture, see the Courses page at https://northwindart.org.
