Hot wings and a benefit concert are on tap for Friday on North Olympic Peninsula.

Wing eating contest

PORT ANGELES — Fors Financial Consulting will sponsor the third annual hot-wing eating contest from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

The fundraiser for the United Way of Clallam County is at Coyote BBQ Pub, 201 E. Front St.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to donate $10 to compete.

Spectators are welcome. Interested contestants can sign up online at www.unitedwayclallam.org.

During the event, Coyote will donate $2 from every pint ordered to the United Way.

Travel lecture canceled

PORT ANGELES — The Adventure Travel series lecture scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday has been canceled due to adverse driving conditions due to snow.

The organizers are attempting to reschedule the presentation.

Square dance

CHIMACUM — Dare to Be Square West will host a square dance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

The dance will be held at Finnriver Farm & Cidery, 124 Center Road.

Benefit concert

PORT TOWNSEND — “The Love: Benefit Concert for Port Townsend’s Homeless Shelter” is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

The concert will be performed at New Life Church, 1636 Hastings Ave.

Performers include Anne O and Her Band, Buck Ellard, Gilbert & McHagar, Happenstance, Mike and Val James, the Retrofiers, Soul Posse and the Water Street Boys.

Donations of non-perishable foods, warm gloves or money are appreciated.

Singer-songwriter

PORT TOWNSEND — Singer-songwriter Simon Lynge will perform at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lynge will perform at Rainshadow Recording, building 315 at Fort Worden State Park.

The Greenlandic-Danish singer-songwriter is now based in Port Townsend.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at simonnorthwindarts.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.

Swing dance

PORT TOWNSEND — Redshift will perform for a swing dance at 8 p.m. Friday.

The dance will be at the Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St.

Admission is $12 per person and includes a free waltz lesson from Janice Eklund at 7 p.m.

Bilingual Storytime

FORKS — The North Olympic Library System will host English/Spanish Bilingual Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The early literacy program, designed for children up to 5 years old and their adult caregivers, will be at the Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.

The bilingual sessions will give families an opportunity to expose their children to two languages. Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary.

The free storytime sessions feature singing, reading, talking, playing and writing.
