PORT ANGELES — Cancan dancers and acrobats will kick off the Olympic Medical Center Foundation’s 12th annual Hog Wild on June 28.
Tickets sales close this weekend for the fundraiser, Hog Wild Goes to the Moulin Rouge.
The show, presented by North Olympic Healthcare Network and Kitsap Bank, will begin at 5 p.m. at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., in Port Angeles, with entertainment by nationally known EnJoy Productions of Seattle.
Tickets are $80.50 for individuals and $788.50 for a table of eight. Sales end for table tickets on Saturday and for individual tickets on Sunday.
“We’re bringing in a short show in the theater in addition to the dinner and auction,” said Martha Enson, artistic director of EnJoy Productions, based on Vashon Island.
Four cancan dancers will perform high kicks in full frilly costumes during two choreographed routines.
“Both will be very high energy and very fun,” Enson said, adding, “you have to have cancan dancers for the Moulin Rouge.”
Joining the dancers will be Seattle singer Caela Bailey and an acrobatic duo from Pop-Up Movement in Port Hadlock.
Proceeds will benefit the OMC Children’s Clinic and the OMC Foundation Scholarship fund.
The latter covers tuition, fees, books and living expenses for those who qualify who want to enter the healthcare profession, especially in Peninsula College’s medicine-related programs.
The pediatric clinic has been the recipient of the Hog Wild proceeds for the past 10 years. Dr. Jonathan Freezer will be the speaker at the event.
EnJoy is a three-decade-long collaboration between Enson and her husband, Kevin Joyce – thus the name EnJoy, a combination of the first two syllables of their last names.
The two have hosted and produced special events for the UN and World Health Organization as well as more than 150 nonprofits in the Seattle and Tacoma areas.
Their creations number more than 2,000 live events, including such theater spectacles as Teatro ZinZanni.
Joyce, a musician and auctioneer who created and hosted Big Night Out for two seasons on the Seattle Channel, has led auctions at past Hog Wild events but won’t be involved this year. Instead, the auctioneer will be Andrew McMasters of Seattle.
Enson was an original cast member of Vashon Island’s Umo Ensemble, formed in 1989.
From 2002 to 2005, she and Joyce wrote, directed and performed in Teatro ZinZanni before forming their own group.
Hog Wild has evolved from its roots as a pig roast. Now, it’s an occasion for entertainment. Two years ago, it was the first event at Field Hall, where “Casablanca” was shown at Hog Wild Goes to the Movies.
Last year, the fundraiser was Hog Wild Goes to the Circus, once again at Field Hall.
