PORT ANGELES — Author Lonnie Archibald will talk about his new book, “Old Trucks and Gear Jammers,” at the Clallam County Historical Society’s History Tales presentation at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church.
The free program will be held in the social hall at 110 E. Seventh St. Parking and entry are on Laurel Street.
Archibald published this latest book in 2016. He said he thoroughly enjoyed talking with truckers in Forks, Sequim and Port Angeles, and already has interviewed more truckers.
Archibald said the book has been well-received in Clallam County as well as Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Montesano and Elma.
“It seems truckers are one big family, with drivers from all the mentioned towns knowing each other,” Archibald said.
Archibald was born in Carlsborg in 1942 and moved to Forks in 1957. He and his wife raised their two children on the Sol Duc River.
He spent 30 years with Century Tel. After retirement, he was able to spend more time with his passions for writing and photography. He is a contributor to the Peninsula Daily News and the Forks Forum, as well as other publications.
He is the author of three books: “There was a Day — Stories of the Pioneers,” “Here on the Home Front — WWII in Clallam County” and his latest, “Old Trucks and Gear Jammers.”
He will have his past two books available for sale. Attendees who have already purchased one but would like his signature should bring a copy along.
