High school art exhibit to open in Sequim

SEQUIM — There will be a reception for the High Schools of the Olympic Peninsula Creative Crafts and Arts Exhibit at 5 p.m. Friday.

The exhibit, which will be on display through April 28, will be in the Karen Kuznek-Reese Gallery at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 West Cedar St. The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The exhibit features 27 pieces selected from submissions from students at Sequim, Quilcene and Crescent high schools.

First place was awarded to Jerry Taylor, a senior at Quilcene High School, for his mixed media sculpture “Cracked House.” Second place went to Anna Munn, a junior at Quilcene High School, for her charcoal drawing, “Melancholy Clown.” Third place was awarded to Jennica Nino, a freshman at Quilcene High School, with her acrylic painting “Jellyfish.”
