Haunted houses set to scare this weekend

Scares and tours in Port Townsend and Forks will continue through Halloween.

The leaves have turned to gold and red and the nights have grown chilly.

There’s only one more week until Halloween on the North Olympic Peninsula and the list of coming events is growing.

In addition to haunted houses designed to terrify, there are family-friendly events, too:

Halloween Harvest Party

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County ReCyclery will host its fourth annual Halloween Harvest Party from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.

The organization invites the public to the free party at 1925 Blaine St.

At 2 p.m., there will be cider pressing of fruits brought by attendees.

A potluck will follow at 5 p.m. and attendees are asked to bring a dish.

There will also be an outdoor spooky movie “The Triplets of Belleville” on chairs and blankets.

RSVP for the party by going to www.ptrecyclery.org.

Rain of Terror

FORKS — One of the kings of scary things on the Olympic Peninsula is the annual haunted house at Quillayute Airport.

This year’s Rain of Terror Haunted House is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. today and Saturday. The fun will continue at 7 p.m. Oct. 28-29.

Tickets are $8 per person at the airport building, at 5144 Quillayute Road.

For more information, call Phillip Sifuentes at 360-780-2077.

Haunt Town

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Kiwanis Club is hosting its haunted house, known as Haunt Town, in the basement of the Elks Club building at 555 Otto St.

The event will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday.

The haunted house will continue Oct. 28-29.

Tickets are $10 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis, Elks Club and local school ASB clubs.

Students are asked to show their ASB cards at the door so their schools will receive their donations.

Attendees are encouraged to park in the Elks’ parking lot and walk around to the left side of the building to the back basement entrance.

There will be friendly ghouls to help you find your way.
