Guitarist to perform ‘In the Woods’ in Quilcene

QUILCENE — Guitarist Eric Lambert will perform in the Concerts in the Woods series at 3 p.m. Sunday in Quilcene.

Concerts in the Woods are held at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

All ages are welcome. Admission is by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee are served at intermission.

Eric Lambert plays feel-good Americana infused with bluegrass, blues, rock and soul.

A 2015 Chicago Music Awards winner, Lambert is well-regarded for his enthusiasm, earthy voice and precision licks and joy in performing, according to Norm Johnson, organizer of the series.

A flatpicking guitarist, Lambert fronted the Henhouse Prowlers band for several years. Currently, he performs solo as well as teamed up with other musicians.

Gives lessons

He also gives lessons at Down Home Guitars in Frankfort, Ill., as well as on DVD via TrueFire.com.

In 2013, Lambert released his fourth CD, “Maiden Voyage.”

“There is more improvisation and freedom in the music,” Lambert said. “I like to provide the framework for a song, while leaving room for expression. I love to hear musicians really stretch out and play their instruments.”

The Laurel B. Johnson Community Center is operated by the Jefferson County Parks & Recreation District.

The center hosts approximately two concerts per month all year round, featuring folk, Americana, singer/songwriters, Appalachian, bluegrass, Celtic, blues, country, and other styles and genres. The room has seating for 65-plus people.
