Grabow to celebrate release of ‘Year of the Dog’ at Studium

PORT ANGELES — Rob Grabow, Peninsula College alumnus and filmmaker, will speak via Zoom in the Little Theater for Thursday’s Studium Generale presentation to celebrate the release of his film, “Year of the Dog,” beginning at 12:35 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored with House of Learning, Peninsula College Longhouse.

To join the meeting, go to https://pencol-edu.zoom.us/j/83024542567.

The meeting ID is 830 2454 2567.

The film is described on the IMDB website as dealing with “Matt, a loner alcoholic at rock bottom, struggles to maintain sobriety for 30 days so he can honor his mother’s dying wish, to visit her in hospice, sober. His book-thumping AA sponsor, Fred, offers him refuge at his farm, where Matt finds Yup’ik, a stray Husky with a unique talent. The man and dog relationship is precarious at first, but with the help of a close-knit Montana community, the two strays find a connection and discover what it takes to pull through to the finish line.”

Grabow is a New York-based Method and Meisner-trained actor.

He trained at the Actor’s Studio Drama School MFA Acting program, the William Esper Studio in New York, and the Freehold Theatre and Gilmore Acting Studio in Seattle.

His credits include speaking roles on the SyFy Network series, Z-Nation and the critically acclaimed Mickey and the Bear.

He also directed, wrote and starred in the short film Method, which premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival in Manhattan.

He’s had lead and supporting roles in a dozen independent films and theatre productions, including Superhero and Delilah’s Muse.
