Global chant to be voiced Saturday in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Global vocalist Gina Sala will perform a participatory global chant and concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worden chapel.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the Port Townsend Food Co-op or at Brown Paper Tickets at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2897988.

“Sala weaves participatory chants, evocative songs and stories together that let the mind rest in the heart like a bee in a flower, while the grooves inspire some to dance,” organizers said.

No experience is needed, and all are welcome to come sing, chant or rest back in the music.

Guests will join in

Sala will be joined Saturday night by Bill Moyer on tabla and percussion and special guests David Michael on harp and Port Townsend cellist Maryann Tapiro.

Sala has been chanting since her early childhood ashram years.

Her repertoire spans 23 languages and performance credits include Cirque du Soleil, the United Nations and many other venues.

She studies and teaches sound tantra, mantra, sanskrit, voice and healing modalities through sound.

For information, phone Paul Henderson at 425-238-3804, email info@gina sala.com or call 415-938-4462.
