Girls Night Out today in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend’s 19th annual Girls’ Night Out today will feature a day and night filled with girlfriend camaraderie, and shopping and dining at local participating businesses.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, is coordinated by the Port Townsend Main Street Program. This year’s theme is “Red Carpet Divas.”

“The event artwork reflects the elegant theme — dress to impress,” organizers said.

Goodie bags will be on sale for $25 while supplies last starting at 11 a.m. at Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyards downtown at 725 Water St.

The event is sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare, 1st Security Bank, Richmond American Homes, Holley Carlson and Harmony Geske of Coldwell Banker Best Homes and participating businesses.

The evening will end with a “Wrap” Party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyards. The party will include raffles and door prizes, with refreshments available for purchase.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Jefferson Healthcare staff encourages mammograms, which, according to Dr. Christine Skorberg, are the most effective way to catch breast cancer in early stages.

Proceeds from Girls’ Night Out goodie bags sales will benefit the Port Townsend Main Street Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, to help provide breast and cervical cancer screenings, care and treatment for low-income Jefferson County residents.

Raffle baskets include gift certificates, art, gifts and accessories showcasing gifts from local businesses and artists. Proceeds benefit the Port Townsend Main Street Program. Raffle tickets, $10 each, will be sold at Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyards downtown today.
