PORT TOWNSEND — Thursday will bring sparkles, female camaraderie and downtown deals.
Girls’ Night Out in downtown Port Townsend will begin with “Tiara Trot,” a free 1.47-mile walk/run beginning at 7 a.m. near the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.
Tiaras, tutus and bright colors are welcome.
Other events will take place across 34 participating businesses between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The Port Townsend Main Street promotion committee chose the theme “You Sparkle” for the day because it speaks to one’s happiness, health and enjoyment, said Mari Mullen, executive director of the program.
Participants can ride in style in the cardinal-red PTeRider to downtown destinations. The car will circulate from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., providing free rides to participants.
The Cotton Building will serve as Girls’ Night Out headquarters, where attendees can pick up copies of the schedule. It’s also the place where gals can purchase $20 goodie bags, chocked with socks from The Clothes Horse, scarves from Tickled Pink, accessories from About Time and coupon books to other downtown establishments.
Proceeds from Girls’ Night Out will benefit the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, supporting breast and cervical cancer screenings, care and treatment to low-income Jefferson County residents, as well as the Port Townsend Main Street Program.
Jefferson Healthcare representatives will set up a pop-up booth in the Cotton Building from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with refreshments, a photo booth and information, including timely advice on mammograms in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Offerings throughout the day include discounts; drawings; a complimentary bra fitting at Emily’s Armoire, 236 Taylor St.; refreshments; demonstrations; a free miniature bottle of balsamic vinegar via the goodie bag coupon book at Lively Olive Tasting Bar, 929 Water St.; and complimentary wine tasting at The Wine Seller, 1010 Water St.
Many businesses will host Take 10 drawings.
Prizes include a pair of Born shoes, a sparkly fidget spinner, an English designer faux fur tote bag, a studio session at Deja View photography, two Well Hearts luncheon tickets, a three-month membership at the Port Townsend Athletic Club, a bottle of Port Townsend Vineyard wine, a pink Boiler Room T-shirt, a $100 ShanOre jewelry piece and gift certificates.

The evening will close with a “Wrap-up Party” at 8 p.m. in The Belmont, 925 Water St. A $10 donation is suggested at the door.
The party will feature a no-host bar, appetizers, dessert, door prizes and the “You Sparkle” raffle drawing.
Raffle tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the party at 18 downtown businesses and the Cotton Building while supplies last. Entrants must be at least 18 years old, and the winner does not need to be present to receive the prize.
The grand prize, valued at $800, includes a four-hour Puget Sound Express whale watch trip for four people, one night at The Bishop Victorian Hotel, Port Townsend Chocolates, Old Whiskey Mill Brewer’s dinner and copper mugs, a studio session at Deja View Photography, a “Rosie Glow Facial” gift certificate, two movie tickets and treats to the Rose Theatre, Port Townsend Vineyards wine tasting for two, sparkly jewelry from Marlena D’s and Key City Public Theatre tickets to “Spirit of the Yule.”
