Garden walk to cover tomatoes, onions, berries

PORT ANGELES — From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, veteran Master Gardeners Bob Cain, Audreen Williams, Jan Bartron and Laurel Moulton will lead a walk through the Fifth Street Community Garden to examine what is happening — or should be happening — in local vegetable gardens and berry patches in August.

This educational event is free and open to the public.

The Fifth Street Community Garden is at 328 E. Fifth St.

Fifth Street Second Saturday Walks occur rain or shine. With the sunshine comes the warmth needed to encourage growth.

Topics to be covered this month include getting tomatoes to ripen, harvesting and growing onions, growing cover crops and others.

The walks end in September.

For more information, call WSU Clallam County Extension Master Gardener Coordinator Laurel Moulton at 360-565-2679 or email laurel.moulton@wsu.edu.
