Free summer concerts set next week

The City of Sequim’s Independence Day and Music in the Park will join forces for a Fourth of July show.

Port Angeles will follow the next day with its free Concert on the Pier, while Port Townsend’s free outdoor concerts don’t begin until July 13.

The season’s free concerts will be Tuesdays in Sequim through Aug. 29, Wednesdays in Port Angeles through Aug. 30 and Thursdays in Port Townsend from July 13 through Aug. 31.

Most Sequim concerts and all Port Angeles concerts are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. while Port Townsend’s venue opens at 4:30 p.m. with the music performed live from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets as well as picnics.

Sequim’s Music in the Park concert on Tuesday at the James Center for the Performing Arts bandshell at Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave., will feature the Sequim City Band at 3 p.m., Buck Ellard Band at 5:30 p.m. and Black Diamond Junction at 8 p.m., capped off with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Port Angeles’ Concert on the Pier on Wednesday will feature CD Woodbury on City Pier at Lincoln Street and Railroad Avenue.

The Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts puts on the series, which will include youth activities, food vendors and an expanded beer garden.

Free admission is supported by sponsors Erika Ralson Word of Windemere, D. A. Davidson, Elwha River Casino and in-kind sponsor Peninsula Daily News.

Port Townsend’s Concerts on the Dock series, presented by Port Townsend Main Street Program and Homer Smith Insurance, will offer Global Heat on July 13.

In addition to free outdoor concerts at Pope Marine Park Plaza, the event offers a beer, wine and cider garden for those 21 and over.

This year the ticket booth will be at the entrance so that people can purchase drink tickets and their souvenir reusable cups.

Other sponsors include Caroline Erickson from Re/Max, Peninsula Hearing, Schodowski Law, Aldrich’s Market, the Law Offices of James A. Doros, Centrum, Susie Haynes of Coldwell Banker Best Homes and the City of Port Townsend.
