Free outdoor concerts set on North Olympic Peninsula

Free outdoor summer concerts are planned in Sequim and Port Angeles this week.

Sequim’s Music in the Park, which began last week with a concert by Blue Rhinos, is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through late August at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Community Park, 500 N. Blake Ave.

This week’s concert will be by the Old Sidekicks performing county and bluegrass.

Port Angeles’s Concerts on the Pier program, which began last week with a concert by Sweet T & Justice, will take a break to allow the Fourth of July festivities from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the City Pier on Wednesday.

Children’s activities are planned at The Gateway transit center. Vendors, a cornhole tournament and concert are planned, as well as a parade around downtown and fireworks at about 10:15 p.m.

Port Townsend will offer free outdoor music in Concerts on the Dock on Thursdays beginning July 12 and extending though Aug. 30 at Pope Marine Park Plaza. Seating will open at 4:30 p.m. Music is set from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and a picnic to the outdoor venues.

• Aug. 21 — Ranger and the Re-Arrangers, gypsy jazz.

• Aug. 28 — FarmStrong, country and bluegrass.
