Free open creative studio Sunday in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — The public is invited to a free Open Creative Studio on Sunday at the nonprofit Northwind Art School at Fort Worden State Park.

“Come do creative stuff and celebrate spring,” said Northwind staffer Diane Urbani. “We’ll provide collage materials and other art supplies, or you can bring your own, or you can mix yours with ours.”

The studio will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Building 324 at Fort Worden.

People can pop in and out or stay the whole afternoon, said Glo Lamson, the multidisciplinary artist who put the event together.

“Come with an idea of something you want to do or make, or let the moment and the community environment inspire you,” Lamson said.

“You never know what might show up until you give yourself time and space to explore.”

While admission is free, donations to Northwind Art School’s scholarship fund are encouraged. For information and to sign up for the Open Creative Studio, visit the “Take a Class” page at https://northwindart.org.

The school provides financial aid to youngsters and adults for its art classes and summer camps. Last year, 39 school participants received scholarships.

“We’re hoping to surpass that number this year,” Urbani said. “Our supporters make it possible for us to welcome more people to our workshops and camps.”
