Free music workshops planned this week near Sequim

SEQUIM — Free music workshops, including training for vocals, piano, strings, woodwinds and drums, will be offered at Dungeness Community Church from Monday to Thursday.

The workshops, open to singers and instrumentalists of all ages, will be from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the church auditorium, 45 Eberle Lane.

The topics include bowed string instruments, fretted string instruments, woodwind embouchure and tone production, MIDI technology, drum technique and groove, ear training and improvisation, voicing piano chords and producing a beautiful vocal sound.

The faculty members include George Rodes, clarinetist with the Port Angeles Symphony; Vern Fosket, Sequim High School band director; Craig Buhler, Stardust Dance Band director; Hannah Jensen, Joyful Noise Music Center academy director; Gary McRoberts, emeritus professor of music at Fullerton College; Bryan Taylor, international recording and touring artist; Taylor Ackley and Allison Rowe, Doctor of Musical Arts candidates at Stony Brook University; Mike Klinger, founder and president of Synthesis MIDI Workshop; and Bob Woll, adjunct faculty at Northwest University.
