Free game night set at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

PORT ANGELES — Art and board games are coming together on Leap Day at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

A Fine Arts Game Night is set at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The free community event is jointly organized by the Fine Arts Center, Anime Kat and Meeples of Sequim, with sponsorship from D6 Arena.

Participants are welcome to bring their own board game, or choose from an assortment of games.

Light snacks will be available throughout the evening, and all attendees will have the opportunity to enter a free raffle to win additional board games.

The game night coincides with a current art exhibit, Obsessed: The Art of Nerd-dom, which is on display at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., through March 15.

Reclaiming the once-perjorative term “nerd” to mean anyone who obsesses over created content, the exhibit takes a glimpse into the artistic side of nerd culture, with artwork ranging from literary illustration to comics to game design.

Obsessed: The Art of Nerd-dom is supported by the Port Angeles Friends of the Library, Anime Kat, D.A. Davidson and the City of Port Angeles.

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is free by donation and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

For more information about this and other upcoming programs at the Fine Arts Center, see www.pafac.org.
