Volunteers served free community feasts on Thanksgiving that drew crowds on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The three-hour afternoon meal service at the Queen of Angels gym served from 800 to 1,000 meals between those people served on-site and those who had meals delivered to their home, according to Lance German.
The Salvation Army attracted 80 people to its two-hour Wednesday afternoon event, according to Captain Crystal Birks, officer in charge.
Meanwhile, Serenity House was expecting between 150 and 200 people at its late-afternoon meal on Thursday, said Site Manager Joshua James earlier in the day.
Holiday Meals of Jefferson County served roasted turkey, vegetables, gravy, fresh rolls and dessert at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, as well as delivering take-out meals and home delivery.
Volunteers prepared 398 turkey dinners on Thursday.
VFW Post 1760 in Sequim and Sun Taxi hosted their annual free turkey dinner in the VFW annex.
Another public meal is set today.
The Brinnon Senior Organization will host a holiday meal at 5 p.m. today at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101.
