FreddyPink, trails coalition host fundraiser for ODT

PORT TOWNSEND — The Peninsula Trails Coalition and the FreddyPink Band will host the Trail Blaze Ball and Auction, a benefit for the completion of a leg of the Olympic Discovery Trail, on Saturday.

The event will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Memorial Field, 550 Washington St.

Admission is a suggested donation of $20; however, anything guests are comfortable giving will be welcome, organizers said.

Tickets will be available at the gate, and advanced tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/.

All proceeds will benefit the Peninsula Trails Coalition for trail maintenance, trail advocacy and construction.

Specifically, the fundraiser is for the Eaglemount Project, the remaining 8-mile span between the Larry Scott portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) at Four Corners to the newly constructed ODT trail in Discovery Bay.

When complete, the ODT will become a 130-mile trail extending across Jefferson and Clallam counties from the Port Townsend Boat Haven to La Push.

In addition to Freddy Pink — a 10-piece rock and soul dance band with a four-piece horn section, a five-piece rhythm section and homegrown lead vocalist Gordon Yancey — the benefit will feature a large silent auction offering trips, merchandise and various services from around the Northwest as well as a new live auction.

Also planned are several gourmet food trucks that use fresh local farm ingredients, adult beverages and soft drinks.

Vendor booths will represent outdoor gear manufacturers, local retail shops and outdoor associations including the Peninsula Trails Coalition, Back Country Horsemen, Cascade Mountain Biking Alliance and Cascade Bike Club.

Music will begin at 4 p.m. with area band MOLO.

A limited amount of tables and chairs will be available and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Businesses are encouraged to give and will receive representation at the event to include graphics featuring logos, as well as mentions from the stage of all corporate donations the evening of the event.
