Freddy Pink to perform at Wonderland Masquerade Ball this Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — On the weekend before Valentine’s Day, Key City Public Theatre invites patrons to fall in love all over again at the second annual Wonderland Masquerade Ball on Saturday.

Dinner will be at 6 p.m. with the ball beginning at 7 p.m. at the Fort Worden Commons. Tickets are on sale for the ball or the dinner and the ball. Seating for the dinner is limited, so visitors are asked to order tickets in advance online at www.keycitypublic theatre.org, at the KCPT box office at 419 Washington St. or by phone at 360-385-5278 (KCPT).

Seattle-based rock and soul band Freddy Pink will return to the North Olympic Peninsula with its eclectic mix of a rock ‘n’ roll drummer, funk bassist, fusion guitarist, a jazz horn section, a gospel keyboarder and three R&B singers, led by Port Townsend’s own Gordon Yancey.

“Freddy Pink will bring the music to make your feet move and your heart race,” said Denise Winter, Key City Public Theatre artistic director.

“They’ve got the range to play hits from Chuck Berry, to Stevie Wonder, to Pearl Jam, to Adele. No matter your tastes, there’ll be music for you to love,” she said.

Visitors are urged to dress to their heart’s content — literally. Classic tux and tails, the gears and goggles of steampunk or the cards and crops of wearable art are all equally right for this ball.

Masks are optional.

The ball will offer a sweet and savory dessert bar, champagne toast and complimentary photo booth, in addition to a raffle with two prize-filled baskets totaling in excess of $1,000 in value.

New to this year’s ball is a four-course dinner available an hour prior to the festivities. The menu offers oysters, avocado mousse and portobello carpaccio appetizers; a lemon hibiscus granita intermezzo; a choice between hazelnut crusted chicken breast or roasted radish, arugula and Chevre Napoleon; and a dessert bar.

A vegan option is available upon request.
