Fourth of July events set on Peninsula

Fourth of July events are planned around the Peninsula, includings arts and crafts, fun runs and music.

PORT TOWNSEND

• The Port Townsend Summer Band will start its 33rd concert season with a Fourth of July Concert at 6 p.m. at Pope Marine Plaza, 621 Water St., Port Townsend.

Attendees should bring a chair or a blanket to sit on the park lawn.

The 40-piece, all-volunteer ensemble will perform traditional patriotic favorites, marches and a sing-along

• Eaglemount Wine & Cider will host a weekend of fun for family and friends at the Palindrome, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road, Port Townsend.

The cidery will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There will be snacks and charcuterie available but guests may bring their own picnic food as well.

No outside alcohol is allowed on the premises.

A variety of free outdoor games, such as geocaching, lawn darts, horse shoes, badminton, volleyball and table tennis, will be set up.

There will also be indoor games including darts, table tennis, jenga and card games.

• Abracadabra Trip will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday on the outdoor patio at Taps at The Guardhouse, 300 Eisenhower Ave., Port Townsend.

The band, which is composed Laura Newman, Solomon Kronberg, Jerome Barner, Cat Chichester and Josh Peters.

The Port Townsend-based band performs psychedelic jams and rock n’ roll anthems.

FORKS

• The Forks Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration will kick off with the Miss Patriotic Pageant ay 6 p.m. Wednesday at Tillicum Park. A $5 donation to benefit Sarge’s Place is requested.

The celebration takes five days in Forks, other activities include:

• The Arts, Crafts and Photography Show will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave.

• The Frog Jump is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Tillicum Park.

On Independence Day:

• The Elks 4th of July Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchant Road., $15 per person, $10 for kids 12-years and younger.

• Garrison Flag Raising at 8 a.m. at Tillicum Park by Mayor Tim Fletcher and a color guard from U.S. Coast Guard Station Quillayute River.

• Check in for the Grand Parade starts at 8:30 a.m. at Pacific Pizza, 870 S. Forks Ave. Line up in the parking lot at Forks Outfitters.

• Sign-up for the Kiddies’ Parade from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the parking lot at Peninsula College, 481 S. Forks Ave.

• Judging for the Grand Parade begins at 10:30 a.m.

• Kiddies’ Parade lines up at 11:30 a.m. and steps off at 11:45 a.m. from Peninsula College.

• The Grand Parade steps off at noon from Forks Outfitters.

• Lions Club Salmon Bake from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. under the Ben Dome at Tillicum Park. $20 per person, $10 for kids 12-years and younger.

• Demolition Derby at 3 p.m., gates open at 1 p.m., in the arena at Tillicum Park.

• Fireworks will begin at dusk.

On Saturday:

• Fourth of July Fun Run starts at 9 a.m.in the parking lot at Mocha Motion, 260 S. Forks Ave. The run or walk 1-mile, 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races have a $10 entry fee. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

• Horseshoe Tournament starts at 9 a.m., registration opens at 8:30 a.m., at Tillicum Park.

• Beaver Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 200361 U.S. Highway 101, Beaver.

• Chess Tournament from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Forks Branch Library, 171 S. Forks Ave. for ages 13-years and older.

• Cribbage Tournament at 6 p.m. at Forks Congregational Church, 280 Spartan Ave. Admission $10.

• Moonlight Madness from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. featuring Senior Parents Car Smash, music and vendors.

On Sunday:

• Kiddies’ Play Day from noon to 2 p.m. at Tillicum Park.

• Sacks Tournament at 4 p.m. at Tillicum Park. Registration is $50 per team, is there is any space left.

SEQUIM

• Sequim will host a “Celebration of Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights” from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday at the James Center for the Performing Arts on the north side of Carrie Blake Park, 500 N. Blake Ave., Sequim.

• Sequim City Band will present its 34th performance of “A Patriotic 4th” at 3 p.m.

• The Army National Guard Band will perform pop and rock hits at 4 p.m. in the Terrace Garden

• Casey Freedom will perform traditional Americana and folk music at 5:30 p.m.

• Great American Trainwreck will perform a blend of bluegrass, southern rock and classic country at 8 p.m.

• Western Display will present a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

PORT ANGELES

• The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce will host “Connections Across Nations, Cultures and Coastlines” from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 121 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles.

Activities include:

• The third Pat Webber Memorial Pickleball Tournament starts at 9 a.m., registration opens at 8:30 a.m., at Port Angeles Wharf, 115 E. Railroad Ave. Entry fee of $10 per person.

• Hot air balloon rides from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Pebble Beach Park on the west end of Railroad Ave.

• Homemade apple pies for the Apple Pie Baking Contest must be dropped off at the Port Angeles Wharf by 11 a.m.

• The Cornhole and Corndogs Tournament will start at 11 a.m. at 121 W. Front St.

• The Kids Zone is open from noon to 5 p.m. at City Pier, 315 N. Lincoln St. with laser tag at the Gateway Transit Center, 125 E. Front St.

• A beer garden will be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at City Pier.

• Uncle Sam’s Hot Dog Eating Contest starts at 2 p.m. at City Pier. Registration opens at 1:30 p.m.

• The U.S. Army Band will perform a free concert from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Field Arts and Events Hall, 201 W. Front St.

• The Lawnmower Derby starts at 3 p.m. at 121 W. Front St.

• The Buck Ellard Band will perform from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at City Pier.

• The Fourth of July Parade steps off at 6 p.m. through downtown.

• Barracuda will perform from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. to finish this year’s celebration.
