Forks event to feature one more bite at Halloween

FORKS — Didn’t get enough Halloween?

Fear not: Forks will bring back the spook to the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave., on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the 23rd annual wine and cheese fundraiser, themed “Hall-O-WINE.”

Tickets cost $10 per person and include one drink ticket, good for both alcoholic beverages and homemade root beer.

Tickets are available at the Forks Chamber of Commerce, 1411 S. Forks Ave., prior to the fundraiser and at the door.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to come adorned in their favorite costumes to enjoy “ghost” chowder, spooky treats, homemade root beer, assorted beer, wine by Harbinger Winery and cheese, of course.

During the festivities, a number of individuals, including chamber volunteers; the “best of” business, citizen and volunteer; the 2018 Board of Directors; and at-large members will be recognized.

Last year, “best of” winners included the Forks Forum and editor Christi Baron as Business of the Year, Frank Hanson as Citizen of the Year and Joe Wright as Volunteer of the Year.

The deadline for 2017 nominations closed Oct. 25.

A silent auction, boasting items such as Mariners’ Edgar Martinez plaques, wine and chocolate baskets, bakeware, a pressure cooker, fruit bowl, china, vase, clothing and gift certificates will benefit the Forks Visitor Information Center.

Organizers continue to accept silent auction items. To donate, drop gifts off at the chamber; Merry Parker and Linda McNulty will gather the goodies.

Volunteers also are welcome. To that end, call the chamber at 360-374-2531.
