Forest Treasures new group show for Port Ludlow Art League

PORT LUDLOW — The Bay Club hosts a new group art exhibit sponsored by the Port Ludlow Art League every two months. The theme for the present exhibit is Forest Treasures.

“With all the trails throughout the Olympic Peninsula, it’s little wonder that the forests in Port Ludlow inspire local artists,” organizers said n a press release.

“From rock formations to towering trees, and all the flora and fauna in-between, the subject matter for the Forest Treasures art exhibit is endless.”

The Forest Treasurers art exhibit is available for viewing in person at the Bay Club at 120 Spinnaker Place during October and November. For more information on art exhibits at the Bay Club, contact Alan Ahtow at info@port ludlowart.org.

Ann Barnard’s “High Desert Day” is among her works featured this month by the Port Ludlow Art League

The Port Ludlow Art League is featuring Ann Bernard as Artist of the Month and Pamela Raine as Jeweler of the Month.

A life-long artist and working mom, Bernard’s retirement has enabled her to pursue art full time.

She creates impressionistic and abstract art with oils and acrylics with the goal of attracting viewers and then drawing them in so they can explore her multi-layered backgrounds.

She said that “abstract art is a deeply intuitive process” that frees her to “instinctively create compositions without preconceived ideas.

Raine enjoyed crafting jewelry based on the treasures she collected from her worldwide travels but since the COVID-19 pandemic started, her inspiration has come from local gardens, beaches and Pacific Northwest sunsets.

Jewelry by Pamela Raine is featured this month in Port Ludlow.

She says she creates necklaces and earrings reminiscent of the pink hues of the flowers in her garden, the blues and greens of the tumbled glass she discovered at Port Townsend’s North Beach, and the colorful sunsets over the Port Ludlow Marina.

Paintings and jewelry can be viewed online at www.portludlowart.org and in person at the Sound Community Bank and at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery, both located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow. To purchase pieces, email info@portludlowart.org to make a sales appointment or stop by the Gallery between noon and 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.
