Food, music and auctions featured at JFFA fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — The Juan de Fuca Foundation will hold its annual Winter Fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Saturday featuring a performance by singer-songwriter Laura Love.

She will perform in a duo with guitarist Terry Hunt.

Tickets are $50 and are available for purchase online at jffa.org.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Red Lion ballroom, 221 N. Lincoln St.

The evening will include a salmon dinner buffet and open bar, according to a news release.

As the event is a foundation fundraiser, a silent auction will take place throughout the evening.

Victoria hotel stays, Coho ferry tickets, Juan de Fuca Festival passes and Port Angeles Symphony concerts will be among the items available to bid on.

Also planned is a raffle on an “eclectic assortment of wonderful wines.” The winner will be drawn before the end of the evening.

Last but not least, the foundation plans a “dessert dash.” An envelope will be placed on each table representing bids on dessert items like a bourbon torte, cherry pie and other items.

The evening will also be an opportunity for community members to meet the foundation’s new director, Kayla Oakes.

Oakes has worked with the foundation as a volunteer and board member for the past eight years. She became the executive director this month, replacing recently-retired Dan Maguire.

Oakes, 43, has a background in dance and theater. She has worked for numerous dance schools and theater companies on the West Coast and moved to Port Angeles from Boise, Idaho, in 2005.

For more information, go to jffa.org or call the foundation at 360-457-5411.
