Food bank benefit set for Friday

SEQUIM — The inaugural Soupstock, a benefit concert for the Sequim Community Food Bank, is set for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Admission to the concert at the Sequim Prairie Grange, at 290 Macleay Road, will be by donation, with all proceeds going to the Sequim Food Bank as the grange’s Winter Holiday Seasonal Gift, according to a press release.

“We will be getting down to our roots with folk, jazz and bluegrass,” the release said.

Music will provided by Jason Paul & Friends, The Buck Ellard Country Band, The Jean Lenke Jazz Band & The FarmStrong Bluegrass Band.

A community Soup & Dessert Dinner will be provided with admission. Canned goods may be dropped off in the front lobby.

An anonymous donor has issued a donor challenge of $5,000. Every dollar collected though donations and sponsorship will be matched up to $5,000.

“We hope this event will spread awareness of the many programs we have, like the Family Holiday Meals and the Weekend Meal Bags for Kids, and inspire people to support our vision that ‘No One Goes Hungry in our Community,’” said Andra Smith, executive director of the Sequim Food Bank.

“We are so grateful to Jean Lenke and her team for putting on this special benefit event and for the entire Sequim community and their ongoing support of the Sequim Food Bank.”
