COYLE — The Debutones will bring acoustic roots-based songs to Concerts in the Woods at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The matinee featuring the band will be in the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center at 923 Hazel Point Road.
Admission is by donation. Sunday’s all-ages concert will offer complimentary cookies and coffee at intermission.
“I love the sound of a full folk band and this next group, The Debutones, has it all: two guitars, a violin, a Dobro alternating with banjo, and bass plus superb vocal harmonies,” said Norm Johnson, concert series organizer.
“They are returning for their second visit to Coyle after doing such a beautiful job last year.”
Debby Nagusky and Don Share had been singing duets for over two decades when three Pacific Northwest musicians joined them and they became the Debutones, according to the band’s information sheet.
“Their repertoire took on an entirely new feel,” it said.
Adding to Nagusky and Share’s vocals and guitar work are Greg Glassman, vocals and bass; Julian Smedley, vocals, violin, and viola; and Bob Knetzger, Dobro and banjo.
Released in late 2015,
The group’s first CD, Please Come Home, which was released in late 2015, landed at No. 21 and then 40 on the “Top Album” and “Top Artist” lists on the U.S. FOLKDJ-L charts in February and March 2016.
