PORT TOWNSEND — Another virtual program in the “Art of Making” speaker series, this one focusing on jewelry, is set for 7 p.m. Friday courtesy of the Jefferson County Historical Society.
In an hour-long talk, Azurite, a Port Townsend artist and community organizer, will give a demonstration of her art-making technique. She’ll show viewers how she uses organic materials from the environment, discuss the electrochemistry and electroforming process, and share her history and relationship with the arts as a neurodivergent person of color.
Admission is by donation, with $10 suggested, via JCHSmuseum.org; use the Education and Programs menu and select First Friday Speaker Series to sign up for the online program. Information can also be found by calling 360-385-1003.

Seven more “Art of Making” talks are set for the first Fridays of each month, including the Port Townsend Foundry’s presentation on metalwork May 7 and Alpenfire Cidery’s talk on cider making June 4.
After starting the series on Zoom, the historical society staff hope to transition to in-person programs when it’s safe to do so.
