Fine Arts Center to welcome 2020 with workshop

PORT ANGELES — A New Year’s-themed journal-making workshop is open to teens and adults Saturday at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

Part of the nonprofit center’s Wintertide activities, the workshop will go from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Supplies will be provided for the $10 fee, and tickets are available via PAFAC.org.

“I’ll be guiding folks through the process of creating a simple handmade journal in which they can set intentions and record reflections throughout the new year,” said Sarah Jane, the center’s gallery and program director.

The workshop will include questions for reflection and time for optional group sharing, she added.

Wintertide at the Fine Arts Center also brings new lighted art installations — made by local and regional artists — right outside in the Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park.

The 5-acre park, with its meadow and walking trails, is open from dawn till dusk every day of the year, and visitors can see a variety of permanent art there, plus the four lighted pieces: “Tempest-tost,” the rooftop copper work by Katherine Shaughnessy, “Mondrian Tower” by Michael Mills, “In just the right light, from just the right angle” by Lance Snider and “Heart Is Home” by Adrianna Santiago and Micah Wallace. These four are on display through Jan. 10.

Come Jan. 11, the Fine Arts Center and the Port Angeles Library will open their joint exhibition, “Obsessed: The Art of Nerd-dom,” with public receptions at both locations.

For more details about all of these activities, visit PAFAC.org or contact the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center at 360-457-3532.
