Final day of Lavender Weekend offers street fair, tours

SEQUIM — It’s the final day of Sequim Lavender Weekend, and both the street fair and tours of area lavender farms are in full swing.

More than 150 vendors are displaying wares at the Sequim Lavender Growers Association’s street fair, which runs along North Second Avenue, West Fir Street and West Alder Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

Live music — “Lavenderstock” — will be heard at the street fair from 11 a.m. to after 4 p.m.

Here’s the schedule:

• 11 a.m. — Stringology.

• 12:15 p.m. — Derik Nelson & Family.

• 1:30 p.m. — Tanga.

• 2:45 p.m. — What Everly Brothers.

• 4 p.m. — The Cat’s Meow.

More than 40,000 people were expected during the three days of lavender weekend, which began Friday.

Many toured area lavender farms.

The 21st Sequim Lavender Festival Farm Tour offers free entry to six farms and one commercial nursery from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily:

• Blackberry Forest, 136 Forest Road.

• Earth Muffin Lavender, 2333 Woodcock Road.

• Fat Cat Garden & Gifts, 21 Fat Cat Lane.

• Graysmarsh Farm, 6187 Woodcock Road.

• Kitty B’s Lavender Farm, 82 Cameron Acres Lane.

• Nelson Duckpond & Lavender Farm, 73 Humble Hill Road.

• Peninsula Nurseries, 1060 Sequim-Dungeness Way.

Other farms also offer free entry, with some offering music and demonstrations. These include:

Four farms are offering activities for paid admission:

• Purple Haze Lavender (purplehaze lavender.com) continues its Purple Haze Daze at 180 Bell Bottom Lane from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $12 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are admitted free, and a shuttle runs from QFC at 990 E. Washington St. to the farm.

Geoffrey Castle will perform at 4:30 p.m. today.

• Washington Lavender Farm (www.wa lavender.com), 939 Finn Hall Road, offers its Washington Lavender Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $10 per person at the gate. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

The Sequim City Band’s Saxophone Quintet will perform from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

• Jardin du Soleil, 3832 Sequim-Dungeness Way, and Olympic Lavender Festival, 1526 Marine Drive, offer a two-for-one $10 admission per person to both farms, with children 12 and younger admitted free. A free shuttle to the farms leaves from the Museum & Arts Center on Sequim Avenue and Fir Street.

Both farms will offer live music.
