Films, plays and storytelling are among the attractions on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
• Port Townsend Film Festival continues through Monday with 53 films from all over the world, filmmaker forums and a number of special filmmaker guests.
Films will be shown at six venues — including one outdoors on Taylor Street — from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today through Sunday. On Monday will be interviews with filmmakers at 8 a.m., followed by a finale concert by the Indigo Girls at 7:30 p.m. in collaboration with Centrum at McCurdy Pavilion, 200 Battery Way.

• “John & Jen,” a musical that honors brothers and sisters as well as parents and children, begins tonight at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave. in Sequim.
The show will run through Oct. 1 with the curtain rising at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students. They are on sale at https://www.olympictheatrearts.org and at the box office between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
The show, set against the background of America between 1950 and 1990, has a cast of only two people: Bailey Loveless and Morgan Bartholick. Also on stage during the play is pianist and musical director Janessa Fodge.
• The Dungeness River Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today.
The free, one-day event will be at the Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.
At least 18 organizations will be on hand with booths and activities, including the U.S. Forest Service, Peninsula Trails Coalition, Back Country Horsemen, North Olympic Land Trust and others.

• Out Loud Story Slam will be at 7 p.m. tonight at Studio Bob at 118½ E. Front St. in Port Angeles.
The theme for the evening is Left Out, hosted by Nessa Goldman.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

• Departure Fest — A three-day music festival at Lake Leland Amphitheater in Quilcene begins Friday.

Featured artists include WookieFoot, Nattali Rize, Torin Frost & Patterns of Saturn, Kalan Wolfe & The Shift, Elias Alexander (Ramblxr), Max Ribner, Sierra Marin, Jus Wright, Aaron Hale & The Human Beings, Locust Street Taxi, Three Wheels Turning, Lujah, Ember Brightheart and DJ Lunch Lady, as well as storytelling with Aimee Ringle.
• Midnight Train will perform from 5 to 8 tonight at the Port Townsend Brewing Co., 330 10th St., Port Townsend. No cover charge.
• Gerald Barude will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Spirits Bar and Grill in the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock. No cover charge.
• Just Duet will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Port Townsend Brewing Co., 330 10th St., Port Townsend. No cover charge.
• Denim Genie and Magic will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sirens Pub, 823 Water St., Port Townsend. No cover charge.
• Shred event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday is a continuation of Kitsap Bank’s “From Shred to Fed” fundraiser series.
The Port Angeles branch, 716 E. Front St., Port Angeles, will accept monetary donations for the Port Angeles Food Bank
Members of the public may bring up to 75 pounds of documents per vehicle for shredding along with a cash or check donation.

• Safe firearms storage will be the topic of a seminar and giveaway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101.
The free event is offered by Seattle Children’s Hospital in partnership with Jefferson County Public Health and Jefferson Healthcare.
Attendees will learn about the importance of safe firearm storage, receive a free lock box or trigger lock and receive training their proper use.

• Bag of Books sale by the Port Angeles Friends of the Library will continue today and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The sale is in the lobby at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Bags will be provided, and customers will be able to purchase as many books as they can fit into the bag for $5.
Customers also can bring their Friends of the Library canvas tote bag and fill it for $3.
The Friends of Library’s adult book bags can be purchased for $8 and filled for free.
Proceeds will benefit special programs hosted by the North Olympic Library System.

• Work to Learn Party will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, when Mary Crook and Gail Ditmore will present “Fresh from the Garden Bouquets.”
The presentation is at a Sequim Botanical Garden Society event at the Terrace Garden in Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.
Participants will make arrangements from the society’s dahlia and roses.
The presentation is free and open to the public; attendees should bring a vase and clippers.
