Filharmonic, PASD choir to perform Friday

Joint concert to take place at Port Angeles High School auditorium

PORT ANGELES — A special joint concert featuring The Filharmonic, a world-renowned a cappella group, is set for 7 p.m. Friday.

The concert will be at the Port Angeles High School auditorium at 304 E. Park Ave.

The concert is a joint effort between the Peninsula College Associated Student Council (ASC) and the Port Angeles High School choir.

“We can’t wait to perform for Peninsula College and PAHS choir,” said tenor Joe Caigoy. “It’s gonna be a fun show since we get to kick off our national tour with them! They get to be the first to hear some of our new songs.”

Advance tickets are $25, available at www.brownpapertickets.com.

They will be $30 at the door. The show is underwritten by the ASC, so current Peninsula College students and current PAHS choir students receive free admission.

The five-member a capella group of Filipino-American singers based in Los Angeles was featured in NBC’s musical competition, “The Sing-Off.”

They also appeared in the motion picture “Pitch Perfect 2,” which then landed them on stage at the “Late, Late Show,” where their performance went viral.

The singing sensations, featuring Caigoy, Jules Cruz (vocal bass), Trace Gaynor (tenor), Niko Del Rey (beat boxer) and VJ Rosales (tenor), were the No. 1 most booked college show in America in 2016 and continue to draw audiences all over the world.

After preforming in Port Angeles, the group will go on a three-month national tour.

The January show marks The Filharmonic’s return to Port Angeles.

The group performed before a sold-out audience at the college’s Little Theater in March 2016.

“We are super excited to be performing for Port Angeles again,” Cruz said. “It was such a great crowd last time. We know this Friday’s show, they will be even greater.”
