Bremerton club members to perform in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Winter Ice Village will host members of the Bremerton Figure Skaters Club on Tuesday.

The skating club has performed at the Winter Ice Village at 121 W. Front St. every year since it opened in 2018, except in 2020, when the skating season was postponed until March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is an honor to have the Bremerton Figure Skaters come to Port Angeles again,” said Leslie Robertson, events manager for the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

The visiting skaters will begin warmups immediately following the 3 p.m. ice resurfacing on Tuesday, and they will perform their routines shortly thereafter, Robertson said in a press release.

The free program, which is open to the public, will include three solo routines and one group number. It will end at about 3:45 p.m. The rink will reopen to customers as soon as the demonstration is finished.

The skaters will do a selection of routines chosen from their recent holiday show, Christmas in the Northwest, which was performed last Saturday at the Bremerton Ice Center.

“We’re very proud that the Winter Ice Village makes it possible to bring the beauty and magic of figure skating to our community,” Robertson said.

“The Bremerton skaters and their coaches tell us that coming to Port Angeles is a highlight of their season, and we are delighted that the skating rink has allowed us to form this relationship with the skating club,” she continued.

“We hope to continue hosting them many years into the future.”

Performing will be:

• Alyssa Cooper, 18, Free Skate 2 Level — who just started skating last year — will skate to “Carol of the Bells.”

• Samantha Abbott, Autumn Cervenka, Alyssa Cooper, Alana Cox, Willa Devine, Cora Rose Klein, Ella Moss, Skye Scotti and Sophia Shanks will skate to “These Are A Few of My Favorite Things.”

• Danica Sebastian, 12, who will be a Juvenile Level skater next season, will skate to “You Raise Me Up.”

• Isabelle Michaels, 15, will skate to “Once Upon a December.”

Now in its fourth season, the Port Angeles Winter Ice Village is a temporary ice rink with skating available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Jan. 3.

The rink — the only one on the North Olympic Peninsula — closes for 30 minutes at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. for ice resurfacing.

Admission for unlimited skating is $15 per day for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12 with family admission at $40 for a family of four and $5 for each additional family member available.

There is also a $150 season pass for avid skaters.

Masks are required.
