Field Day set for Saturday at Fort Worden

PORT TOWNSEND — Field Day, hosted by The Production Alliance and Fort Worden Hospitality, will start at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The annual summer kickoff celebration will be at Littlefield Green on Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way.

The opening ceremony at 2:25 p.m. will be followed at 2:30 p.m. by live Indie rock from local musicians Marco Marco and a youth talent show at 3:30 p.m.

Field Day also will have tug of war, sack races, the super field race and a watermelon eating contest.

Events will finish with a community portrait before an awards ceremony at 6 p.m.

Throughout the afternoon, Sugar Hill Farms will host the Bouncy Zone with the Giant Carousel Bouncy for the whole family, Jumping Jousting and a special unit for children 5 and younger.

The Bouncy Zone is free, but a $10 donation is welcomed.

The Kiwanis of Port Townsend will serve 1,000 free root beer floats on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 2:30 p.m.

Local carpenter John Edwards will provide an opportunity for people of all ages to learn a new skill and take a home a hand-made birdhouse.

Northwind Art School will host art projects, and Madrona MindBody will host “Stand, Stretch, Swivel & Wiggle” and “Stretch-N-Breathe” free all-age workshops.

Local food and beverage vendors Big Dawgs Hot Dogs, High Country Donuts, Gypsy Coffeehouse, Sugar Hill Farms, Fort Worden Hospitality and NW Cold Treats will be on site.
