Fiber Arts Exhibition part of Port Angeles Art Walk

PORT ANGELES — Studio Bob will host the fourth annual Fiber Arts Exhibition during the Port Angeles Art Walk on Saturday.

The opening night and artist reception at the studio at 118½ E. Front St. will be during Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The exhibition will feature many forms of fiber art, including spinning, felting, weaving, quilting, crochet, rug punching, sewing, costumes, fiber sculpture and rugs.

This annual non-juried event, sponsored by Cabled Fiber & Yarn, will be on display throughout the month of September at Studio Bob.

Submissions include items recently completed and displayed at the Clallam County Fair, local fiber artists and family fiber heirlooms that embody the history of fiber arts brought down through the ages.

“We’re thrilled to have this exhibit again this year,” said MarySue French, co-owner of Cabled Fiber & Yarn.

“Each year we include new artists showcasing the extensive talents of our community and allow the public a chance to learn about different fiber art techniques.”

Between noon and 3 p.m. Sunday, the exhibit will be open with artist demonstrations.

The exhibit also will be open with demonstrations from noon to 4 p.m. during the Port Angeles Arts and Draughts Festival on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The exhibit can be viewed by appointment. To make an appointment, call Cabled Fiber & Yarn at 360-504-2233.

There will be a no-host bar serving beer and wine in The Loom during the opening.

Also on Saturday night for Art Walk:

• Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., will welcome new artist Cristina Rosenthal.

Her jewelry will be on display during the Second Saturday Art Walk.

Terri Enck and Tammy Hall also will provide demonstrations during the Arts and Draughts Festival on Sept. 21.

• The Landing Artists Studio, 115 E. Railroad Ave. Suite 103, will feature the work of the Northwest Regional Spinners Association during Art Walk.

The group is a four-state network of individuals that promotes the art and craft of handspinning and provides a communication network for spinners in the Pacific Northwest.

This group gives hand spinners an opportunity to share, learn, educate and work together on a regional basis. They also train judges to evaluate handspun yarns at fiber contests.

The Landing Artists Studio is a working art studio with a diverse offering of visual and wearable pieces, making it a great destination for visitors who want to purchase local handcrafted items including paintings, jewelry, clothing, textured yarns, baskets, ornaments, souvenirs, fashion accessories and other items.
