Fiber art, goods on sale Saturday in Sequim

SEQUIM — A plethora of fiber fantasies and useful handmade goods will be on display and for sale at the Sequim Museum & Arts on Saturday.

The North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival Fiber Arts Show and Sale will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center at 544 N. Sequim Ave.

Renne Emiko Brock’s ombre silk stoles are among the crafts that will be for sale at the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival Arts Show and Sale on Saturday.

The show will be on the final day of the exhibit of “Irresistible Aesthetics — Beauty, Absorption, & Ideology.” Artists will sell everything from fiber to finished products.

It is intended to help support Small Business Saturday efforts as part of Sequim’s Hometown Holidays, said Renne Emiko Brock, artist and member of the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival.

The Fiber Arts Market will offer gifts of fine art, wearable art, accessories, housewares, yarn, fleece and fuzzy treasures.

Visitors can meet fiber arts creators and learn about the methods used to make their unique works.

Several small, home-based businesses will be selling at the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival Fiber Arts Market, said Brock, including members of the North Olympic Shuttle and Spindle Guild, Lisa Gilbert, Leslie Hoex, Kathy Martin, Jan Tatom, Jean Wyatt, the Twisted Strait Fibers Co-Op and herself.

“Nearly all of the participating artists are also educators who can assist you to ignite your own creativity,” Brock said in a press release.

The Fiber Arts Market event is part of the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival, which is an educational and economic opportunity to learn about Olympic Peninsula Fiber Artists and related businesses that maintain traditional and innovative techniques in raw fiber, yarns, textile home goods, apparel and fine art while fostering community inclusion and teaching future generations, Brock said.
